Dr. Jerry Wallace

Dr. Jerry Wallace was born and raised in Muskegon, Michigan. He started off his early years by being a standout student athlete in high school and college. Jerry attended Grand Valley State University (GVSU), where he was a two -sport athlete from 2002-2006. Most notably playing four years for the GVSU men’s basketball team and running one season on the GVSU track and field team (2003-2004). Dr. Wallace also holds a GLIAC championship in each sport!

Currently, Dr. Jerry Wallace is the President of WVU Potomac State College in West Virginia. He has served as a college president for Danville Community College (VA) and at 41 years old among the youngest college presidents in the country. Before heading to Virginia, Dr. Wallace held the seat of Campus President and Vice President for skilled and technical sciences and business of Nebraska Central Community College, Hastings Campus.
In 2023, Dr. Wallace was announced as one of Virginia’s Top 100 People to Meet! Earlier that year, Dr. Wallace also appeared in a Viewpoint documentary series as a “leaders in the future of community college education”. This documentary series is hosted by Dennis Quaid and aired on Public Television, CNN, and the Discovery Channel. In 2024, Dr. Wallace received the Rising Star Award, a national recognition from the Rural Community College Alliance later.
